Multi Use Vehicle
first impressions of the kit are excellent, with clean crisp mouldings on all sprues. Great representation of this universal model that can be converted to numerous other uses, including 3/8th scale model railway models. Comparison with numerour excellent prototype photos the model is a good representation of the early version of the vehicle.
parts fit generally is good, except for the wooden cargo deck bearers, which are a sloppy fit in the main timber secondary rails.
Engine is a good representation of the Ford-A original. However the intake and exhaust manifolds are incorrect, particularly the exhaust manifold, which should place the outlet pipe at the rear of the engine block
there are also some minor discrepancies to the radiator shell that should be fixed if an open bonnet display is required.
the wheel centres are good. Note however that the bolts and hub centre must be removed from the inner rear hub before glueing it to the outer wheel. Also keep in mind that the spare wheel centre must be modified by removing the "bolt heads" and "bearing hub" at the same time drill the bolt holes and hub centre before mounting the spare. It is interesting to note that whilst a spare is provided no instructions are given as to where this is placed. It should be below the main frame at the rear, with a cradle that you will have to build yourself.
Instructions are very clear and concise.
the completed model is great and could be used in numerous configurations.
with a bit of care in moving the front wheels, opening the cab doors and leaving one side of the lower bonnet it will add a lot of interest.
