Squadron / Signal SS1145: F4U Corsair in Action Aircraft No.145. Whether carrier-borne or serving from land bases during WWII to Korea and well beyond, the F4U made its mark in aviation history. The primary fighter and ground attack aircraft of the USMC, it was also flown by the US Navy, the Royal Navy's Fleet Air Arm, the Royal New Zealand Air Force many other foreign militaries. The 'bent-wing bird' proved to be one of the best piston engine warplanes ever produced.
