Knights to remember - Caesar Miniatures Crusaders
I bought this little boxed set of medieval crusaders for use in part of a large diorama I am making, of the prelude to the battle of Arsuf. I got them in order to add variety to the numerous Italieri figures I already had. And I'm certainly glad I bought these Caesar Miniatures too, as they are most impressive.
Unlike many figures of this scale, these come not on a sprue, but individually in a little resealable plastic bag, which is handy and certainly less tedious than removing various bits and trimming them with a scalpel, this is probably a plus point for wargamers, who would otherwise find it necessary to do this for a lot of figures - in fact about the only minus point to the lack of a sprue is that it's slightly more fiddly to wash the figures in detergent prior to painting than would be the case with figures on a sprue, but this not really a big deal.Molded in dark grey plastic, definition of these figures is very good indeed, with hardly any flash needing removal (a very major plus point with the soft plastic manufacturers insist upon using for this type of figure). There's plenty of good detail present and some very lively, intelligently thought-out and convincing ation poses on offer, with horses rearing up or looking like they are in mid-charge, riders are seperate from their horses, as are shields and some weaponry (these tiny bits do come on a small sprue), which of course facilitates easier painting. Interestingly, some of the horses are free-standing, without a base, which is another nice touch, although in this case I suspect wargamers might prefer all the figures with a base, not that it would be hard to add one.In short, they are a worthy purchase, and at a great price too.
It's probably also worth pointing out that the service from Netmerchants is second to none, the numerous times I have ordered stuff from their site has seen the items delivered extremely rapidly, very often the next day in fact, which is also a plus point.
Highly recommended.
